National Youth Week: April 22nd- 28th
Transforming Youth into Super Savers
Every year during National Youth Week, BRCCU invests in the future of our younger generation. During National Youth Week, April 22nd to the 28th, your child can open an account for free!! Belle River will deposit the initial share of $10.00 into the new account. Upon opening their account, they will receive either an activity book or a young adults guide to money. Dividends on youth accounts are paid on any balance over $25.00.
BRCCU offers a variety of savings plans for youth of all ages. Our Reality Checking account teaches our teens the value of saving, budgeting, balancing checkbooks and using ATM/Debit cards in preparation for adulthood. For college bound students between the ages of 18 and 25, BRCCU has the Independence Checking Account and the 1st Big Brake auto loan, giving great benefits for those cash strapped young adults who are attending college. The Office of Financial and Insurance Regulation (OFIR) today encouraged Michigan consumers to participate in free Money Smart Week events throughout the state from April 21- 28th. OFIR has partnered with the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago and many other Michigan organizations to educate consumers about money management and financial literacy through free classes on investing, managing debt, avoiding financial scams, insurance products, energy savings, planning for college and even extreme couponing.
